West Ohio Historian Award 2010
2010 West Ohio Historian of the Year -- John F. Underwood
The winner of the West Ohio Historian of the Year is John F. Underwood, of Jackson Christ UMC.
Pastor David Roach wrote the following in his February 25, 2010 letter of nomination:
"This letter comes to you as a recommendation for Mr. John Underwood who currently serves as Church Historian for Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Ohio. He has served with great passion and commitment in that capacity since 1994.
As the new pastor of Christ Church, I have found the comprehensive history of the church that he and his committee created and published tremendously helpful in my transition into leadership of this congregation. In my 29 years of ministry serving various congregations in the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church, I have never seen such a fine work of research and writing.
For that reason, I whole-heartedly offer my support of his nomination for the conference Historian of the year award. His tireless effort in preserving the amazing heritage of Christ Church should not go without recognition."
